Understanding God: The Joy of Finally Hearing God’s Good and Gracious Word

A personal story that goes far in explaining why the church is losing members, and more importantly how we can bring them back into the fold.

What Are We Doing Here?

The purpose of this site is to give full expression of my faith in Jesus Christ as Risen Lord and Savior.  Since I have been given the gift of faith in God and His son, Jesus the Christ I feel compelled to respond with gratitude.  All of us should seek to do good works, not in order to gain salvation, but because we have been given salvation as a free gift.

Therefore, as with all God’s children, I will seek to, as feebly, as I can, to do what I can in furtherance of God’s Kingdom.  To that end I focus on two areas of concern: peace and stewardship.

The focus on peace is critical.  All that God desires for His children is wrapped up in furthering peace and ending violence among and between humanity.  This is of primary concern.  All that we could ever hope to accomplish in God’s world depends upon nonviolence.  The command to love God and love your neighbor, as well as the New Commandment given at the Last Supper to love one another the way that God loves us puts this effort front and center.  In a world of war and under the constant threat of nuclear destruction the only battle worth waging is the battle for peace.

The second area of focus is stewardship.  This is simply because I have an extensive background in financial services and retirement planning.  I know the intricacies of this world; I understand the pitfalls and traps and I can identify the opportunities.  I, by virtue of my past, can help people succeed in this area, and it is my firm conviction that God wants us to use all our human experience to further His mission.

To further both goals, this site has been constructed to connect you with resources to explore your faith in a practical way, to think about what God wants for His children and to get involved and increase your impact.

May all of us seek, not our will but His!  Praise Be to God!

It All Comes Together

It All seems So Weird The text this week is John 3:1-17.  This, of course, contains the justly famous John 3:16, “for God so loved the world…”.  Yet the passage starts out oddly.  First, it has Nicodemus skulking around at night to find Jesus.  Obviously, he is nervous at being ...

Birthday of the Church

A Descending Fire The text for this week is John 15:26-27, 16:4-15.  This is the text that describes the arrival of the Holy Spirit.  The church commemorates this day as the Feast of Pentecost.  The word Pentecost comes from the Greek word  Pentēkostē, meaning “fiftieth”.  This word is used because ...

Jesus Prays for Us

Yes, Jesus Prays The text for this week is John 17:6-19.  This sees Jesus engaging in a prayer for all of us.  It might seem odd at first thought to think of Jesus praying.  Aren’t we to pray to Him?  There are many instances of Jesus praying.  Most notably, in ...

The Susurrus of the Holy Spirit

What’s This Now? I apologize for being a word nerd, I simply cannot help myself.  Susurrus is a cool sounding word that means a whispering or rustling sound.  The Holy Spirit part of the title I hope you already know.  It is my firm belief that the Holy Spirit most ...
