Understanding God: The Joy of Finally Hearing God’s Good and Gracious Word

A personal story that goes far in explaining why the church is losing members, and more importantly how we can bring them back into the fold.

What Are We Doing Here?

The purpose of this site is to give full expression of my faith in Jesus Christ as Risen Lord and Savior.  Since I have been given the gift of faith in God and His son, Jesus the Christ I feel compelled to respond with gratitude.  All of us should seek to do good works, not in order to gain salvation, but because we have been given salvation as a free gift.

Therefore, as with all God’s children, I will seek to, as feebly, as I can, to do what I can in furtherance of God’s Kingdom.  To that end I focus on two areas of concern: peace and stewardship.

The focus on peace is critical.  All that God desires for His children is wrapped up in furthering peace and ending violence among and between humanity.  This is of primary concern.  All that we could ever hope to accomplish in God’s world depends upon nonviolence.  The command to love God and love your neighbor, as well as the New Commandment given at the Last Supper to love one another the way that God loves us puts this effort front and center.  In a world of war and under the constant threat of nuclear destruction the only battle worth waging is the battle for peace.

The second area of focus is stewardship.  This is simply because I have an extensive background in financial services and retirement planning.  I know the intricacies of this world; I understand the pitfalls and traps and I can identify the opportunities.  I, by virtue of my past, can help people succeed in this area, and it is my firm conviction that God wants us to use all our human experience to further His mission.

To further both goals, this site has been constructed to connect you with resources to explore your faith in a practical way, to think about what God wants for His children and to get involved and increase your impact.

May all of us seek, not our will but His!  Praise Be to God!

The Unhousing of America: Part 2

This week’s essay continues our examination of the housing crisis.  Last week we looked at the restrictions upon supply that have hindered the construction of additional housing.  This week we will focus on the artificial increase in demand that adds fuel to this fire.  We will also examine some possible

By Whose Authority

A Question with a Question This week’s text is Matthew 21: 23-32.  The passage starts out with Jesus doing what is so irritating when having a discussion/disputation with someone; He answers a question with a question.  The chief priests and elders of the temple want to know by what authority

The Unhousing of America: Part I

It Really Is A Crisis Many recognize that we are but stewards of God’s creation, yet remain fuzzy on what effective stewardship means.  So, it is necessary to occasionally look at economic issues and ask ourselves, are we being effective stewards of what God has given us.  This may be

Mercy for Me, Justice for the Other Guy

Working for the Man This week’s text is Matthew 20: 1-16.  This is the tale of the workers in the vineyard.  Some work all day, some only an hour.  Yet, they all receive the same pay-that of a full day’s work.  This of course angers those that worked all day,

The Aspirations of Business

What Business Should Be This week I wish to share a movie clip as a means of communicating the best of what business aspires to be.  Many, particularly on the left, but increasingly on the right, view business as a negative institution.  This is particularly true when it comes to

Unending Forgiveness

A Brief Lesson This week’s text is Matthew 18: 21-35.  This is a famous lesson Jesus offers regarding forgiveness, specifically, how many times we should forgive.  In two short verses (21-22) Jesus lays out one of His greatest lessons.  I am profoundly indebted to my former Pastor who gave me
